US: pressure on supposed secret channel between Russia and Trump increases

Some of President Donald Trump's top aides refuse to comment on rumors that Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump and White House adviser, would have created a secret communication channel, along with a Russia, between the transition team of Trump and the Kremlin.

Questions about the reports came as Trump's national security adviser H. McMaster and economic adviser Gary Cohn met with the media in Italy on Saturday shortly before Trump returned to Washington after his first overseas trip as president.

McMaster and Cohn declined to comment on the new revelations about Kushner's communications with Russia's ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak. "We will not comment on Jared," Cohn said. McMaster says that, in general, "we have return channel communications with multiple countries," and doing so "allows you to communicate discreetly."
