Italy: Police arrest two suspects in a city near the G7

Italian news agency ANSA reports that two Syrians were detained in Sicily on suspicion of terrorism while seven of the world's top leaders gathered elsewhere on the Italian island for the G7 summit.

ANSA reported on Saturday that the Italian anti-terrorist police detained the two Syrians after arriving on a boat from Malta in the port of Pozzallo, 130 kilometers from where the G7 leaders were gathered.

The report says police found images on their suicide phones with explosive belts. They seemed to have ties to Libya.

One of them is a minor, and the other is 25 years old. Both had previously been registered in Italy as refugees. Source: Associated Press.
