Manifestantes protestaram hoje (30), na avenida Paulista, contra a decisão do Ministério da Justiça que anulou a demarcação da Terra Indígena do Jaraguá, de ocupação tradicional do povo Guarani-Mbya, localizada na zona norte da capital paulista. O grupo pede a revogação imediata da anulação pelo governo federal.
Índios de diversas partes do Brasil e apoiadores do movimento começaram a se reunir às 17h no vão livre do Museu de Artes de São Paulo (Masp). Por volta de 18h, eles saíram em caminhada pela avenida Paulista com destino ao escritório da Presidência da República em São Paulo, onde chegaram por volta das 19h30 e fizeram um ritual, com música e dança.
Moradora de uma das aldeias do Jaraguá, a indígena Rosangela Soares Gabriel estava no ato com o filho nos braços. "É importante [manter a demarcação] para nossas crianças, para todos nós, para que a gente viva e mantenha nossa cultura. Os brancos tiraram tudo de nós, agora temos pouca aldeia. Não temos mais a nossa natureza, nossos rios, tiraram tudo, então estamos aqui para lutar pelos nossos direitos", disse. Durante a passeata, os manifestantes criticaram o governo do presidente Michel Temer e gritaram palavras de ordem em defesa da Terra Indígena do Jaraguá. Por volta das 21h30, ainda havia manifestantes no local, mas a via já tinha sido liberada.
Anulação
A portaria que anulou a demarcação da reserva foi publicada no Diário Oficial no dia 21 deste mês. O Ministério da Justiça alegou um erro administrativo para desfazer a ampliação do território, realizada em 2015. A área homologada em 1987 é a menor terra indígena do Brasil, com 1,7 hectare e havia sido expandida para 512 hectares. O ministério alega, no entanto, que a extensão correta é de 3 hectares.
A Comissão Guarani Yvurupa diz que a decisão do ministério pode afetar outros processos de demarcação de terras indígenas do país. “Essa medida é vista por organizações indígenas e indigenistas como um movimento claro do governo [de Michel] Temer no sentido de iniciar uma avalanche de atos para cancelar demarcações já realizadas”, diz comunicado divulgado pela entidade.
Ocupação
Na manhã de hoje, um grupo de índios Guarani ocupou a entrada do prédio onde fica o escritório da Presidência da República na avenida Paulista, também em protesto contra a decisão do Ministério da Justiça.
A assessoria de comunicação da Presidência da República informou que foi solicitado à Polícia Militar que fizesse a segurança do local, por se tratar de um prédio público. No início da tarde, policiais conversaram com os manifestantes para se informar sobre a duração e dimensão do protesto. A Presidência não se pronunciou, no entanto, sobre as reivindicações dos ocupantes.
“Não sairemos daqui até que seja revogada a Portaria 683 do Ministério da Justiça, que rouba nossos direitos sobre nossas terras tradicionais no Jaraguá. Temos mais de 700 indígenas, a maioria crianças, vivendo em cinco aldeias na Terra Indígena Jaraguá, 600 guaranis serão despejados com essa decisão genocida”, divulgou a Comissão Guarani Yvyrupa sobre a ação.

Protesters protested today (30), on Avenida Paulista, against the decision of the Ministry of Justice that annulled the demarcation of Jaraguá Indigenous Land, a traditional occupation of the Guarani-Mbya people, located in the north of the capital of São Paulo. The group calls for the immediate repeal of the annulment by the federal government.
Indians from various parts of Brazil and supporters of the movement began to meet at 5 pm in the open space of the Museum of Arts of São Paulo (Masp). Around 6 pm, they went on a walk along Avenida Paulista to the Office of the Presidency of the Republic in São Paulo, where they arrived around 7:30 p.m. and performed a ritual with music and dancing.
A resident of one of the villages of Jaraguá, the indigenous Rosangela Soares Gabriel was in the act with her son in her arms. "It is important [to keep the demarcation] for our children, for all of us, for us to live and maintain our culture." The whites have taken away all of us, now we have little village, we no longer have our nature, our rivers, , So we are here to fight for our rights, "he said. During the march, protesters criticized the government of President Michel Temer and shouted slogans in defense of the Jaraguá Indigenous Land. Around 9.30 pm, there were still demonstrators at the scene, but the road had already been cleared.
Annulment
The ordinance that annulled the demarcation of the reservation was published in the Official Gazette on the 21st of this month. The Ministry of Justice alleged an administrative error to undo the expansion of the territory, held in 2015. The area approved in 1987 is the smallest indigenous land in Brazil, with 1.7 hectares and had been expanded to 512 hectares. The ministry claims, however, that the correct extension is 3 hectares.
The Guarani Yvurupa Commission says that the ministry's decision may affect other processes of demarcation of indigenous lands in the country. "This measure is seen by indigenous and indigenist organizations as a clear move by the [Michel] Temer government to start an avalanche of acts to cancel demarcations already made," the statement said.
Occupation
This morning, a group of Guarani Indians occupied the entrance to the building where the office of the Presidency of the Republic is located on Avenida Paulista, also in protest against the decision of the Ministry of Justice.
The communication office of the Presidency of the Republic reported that the Military Police was requested to make the security of the place, because it is a public building. In the early afternoon, police officers talked to the protesters about the length and scale of the protest. The Presidency did not, however, rule on the occupiers' claims.
"We will not leave here until Ordinance 683 of the Ministry of Justice, which steals our rights over our traditional lands in Jaragua, is revoked. We have more than 700 indigenous people, most of them children, living in five villages in the Jaraguá Indigenous Land, 600 guaranis will be evicted with this genocidal decision, "the Guarani Yvyrupa Commission reported on the action.
